Well No Angus, I hadn't been drinking, but yes it was during a dust storm, but at the end when things had quietened down a bit.

Hi Peter,
is this the photo that you took "blind" during one of the few big dust storm's that you weren't happy with?

We had the pleasure of the Flinders in both the summer and winter and although, as you say, the colors are supposedly better in summer, I prefer winter hues. Originally we were only going to spend a couple of days in the Flinders (Hawker) but ended up staying an entire week during our seven month camping tour of Australia. We loved the area (and South Australia!) so much that we spent another week there 5 months later!

We will be back in 2013!!!

Peter - these are the photos that make my heart skip and this one in particular is incredibly beautiful, I think - the colours as you say, the layers, the scrubby dotted foreground, the clouds echoing the landscape. This is a stunner. I'm interested in the relatively open aperture - because it was hand held and needed a fast shutter?

Wonderful photo, but as you alluded to, one has to be very sensitive taking photos in such circumstances

Yes, definitely hits the mark as far as painterly quality goes. It reminds me also a little of old western movies.

Peter, Your desert was home, as in "home is where your feet are" for far too short a time for me.
Your photos and comments keep me close to home.
Thanks.
